Skincare frequently asked questions
What makes the skincare range safe to use?
Every product in our skincare range has been created to pamper and look after your skin. Our ingredients were chosen to help calm and soothe skin, strengthening the skin’s defences through moisturisation and skin conditioning. The whole range has been clinically tested to ensure they are safe to use. If you’re in any way concerned, stop using the product and seek advice.
Have the products been tested on sensitive skin?
Yes! We take the testing of our products seriously, and the whole collection has undergone rigorous testing to ensure they are safe for sensitive skin.
Is the Skin Warrior Wash anti-bacterial?
It isn’t anti-bacterial as such, but it should work just like soap. Our formulator believes it should work just as well as normal hand wash or soap. Washing your hands with any sort of soap, hand wash, body wash, shower gel that has a high enough surfactant level to foam well (which the Skin Warrior Wash does) should have a dual action against bacteria. It’s really important to wash your hands super thoroughly and for 20+ seconds to get the best chances of removing the bacteria from your hands.
Are the products suitable for my 10-year-old daughter? Can they be used on babies?
Every product in our range has passed the legally-required safety assessment which certifies that a product is safe for use on babies from birth, however, we wouldn’t recommend to use it in nappy areas.
Can I use this product when pregnant?
Our products have all passed the legally-required safety assessment, proving that they are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding (avoid applying in the breast area if breastfeeding as the products haven’t been tested under the food regulation). Always check with your doctor before using any new product.
Can I use this product with my allergy?
It’s almost impossible to state that a product won’t react with someone at some stage. These products have been formulated to exclude allergens, as far as possible. If you have a known allergy, you should always check the ingredient listings of any products.
Can I use these products if I have a nut allergy?
All our products contain almond oil. This is shown on our ingredients list with the INCI name of Prunus Amaygalus Dulcis. If you have a nut allergy, then please check the ingredients listing very carefully as these products may not be for you.
Are the products suitable for vegans?
Our products do not contain any animal-derived ingredients and are approved by PETA as suitable for vegans. Our products are also PETA approved cruelty-free.
Have the products been tested on animals?
Our products have never and will never be tested on animals, and the ingredients we use adhere to EU cosmetic regulations which banned animal testing from 2013. We are proud to be PETA approved.
What is Parfum? I notice it’s in your products.
‘Parfum’ is the name used to show that the product contains a fragrance. The decision to include fragrance in some of the products was taken very carefully, and we have chosen a natural, allergen-free fragrance from botanically sourced ingredients to minimise the chance of irritation. If in doubt, be careful and do a patch test to see if it is suitable for your skin.
What kind of water is in the products and why is it needed?
Where ‘Aqua’ is listed, we use de-ionised water, which goes through a process to remove impurities. This is then tested so we can ensure it is free of toxins, pollutants and microbes in our products.
What are parabens and are they in this product?
Parabens have been widely used as preservatives in cosmetic products for many years. Preservatives are important because they stop bacteria growth and make sure that the product is safe to use. Parabens have recently been found safe to use, despite a number of years of bad press. We have chosen to use an alternative preservative system in our products, because although we’re fine with parabens, we’d love to spend more time talking about the active ingredients in our range and not the preservative system! Therefore our products do not contain parabens.
Are there any synthetic ingredients in the products, if so what is their purpose?
We’re passionate about the power of natural ingredients and we always will be. Our work developing these products with leading skincare scientists and dermatologists has also helped us refine our idea about the types of ingredients we need to include in our products to make them work. Poison Ivy is natural - but we wouldn’t want to apply that to our skin?! Our primary aim was to bring you products that are beautifully indulgent to use (no sticky white gloop here!). This means that we’ve carefully ‘supercharged’ our incredible natural ingredients with the latest in scientific techniques. We’ve tried to explain this clearly on the packaging, and will be talking openly about our ingredients.
Are your products organic?
Our products do contain some organic ingredients, but they’re not purely organic. During our development process, we discovered that we needed a wider range of more refined ingredients to deliver the results we wanted to be safe and efficacious. Every single ingredient in each formulation is carefully chosen not only for its individual benefit, but also to work well with the others.
Where can I buy the products?
Our skincare products are currently available for worldwide shipping here on our website. They are also available on Amazon.co.uk. We have plans to expand into retail stockist throughout the year. If you are interested in becoming a stockist then please email us at hello@thebeautyofeczema.com.

Will this product work on my skin?
Although everyone’s skin is different, we’ve worked hard to develop formulations which work. For example, the ‘Calming Cream’ contains ingredients which are supported by clinical data to prove that they do what they say. We look for scientific data at clinically tested levels where possible.
How long will the Calming Cream take to work?
Everyone’s skin is different (it’s what makes us special angels!). You should feel an immediate benefit the first time you use the cream. If your skin is dry, tight or uncomfortable, the cream will moisturise and soften skin. With regular use, you should notice skin is more comfortable, and any redness, itching or dryness are reduced. (Note, this is not an alternative to medical treatment)
What is the fragrance made up of, is it natural?
Our fragrance is natural and allergen free, from botanically sourced ingredients.
How natural are the products?
Our products are packed full of natural ingredients. Our clever calculations tell us that every product in the range contains at least 97% naturally derived ingredients. The rest is a sprinkling of scientific magic - gentle, well tested ingredients to keep the products safe.
Why are your products not 100% natural?
We would always choose natural ingredients where possible, but sometimes we need a bit of science to make sure the products are safe and will work well. Synthetic ingredients are used to ensure the purity of the ingredient. The best natural ingredients are the ones which work for the skin, enhanced with carefully chosen synthetic ingredients which have data to support that they work.
Why do some of the ingredients have unusual names?
We label our ingredients to comply with legal INCI regulations. INCI stands for the International Nomenclature of Cosmetics Ingredients. It describes the chemical name, or for plants, the Latin name of the plant, along with the part of plant used. We think of it a little like the plant names in the garden! See our Inci Decoder page.
Can I use this on broken skin?
We would never advise putting a cosmetic product on a broken skin barrier. If in doubt, talk to your doctor, or avoid! Please be careful and know your own skin.
Is the packaging recyclable?
We are committed to do everything we can to be more eco-friendly and sustainable and we’re very aware of the growing concern around packaging. We’ve chosen single material plastic for our tubes, bottles and labels and FSC recycled card for our cartons - all of which can be easily recycled.
How do I recycle the packaging?
To recycle, please separate all packaging before putting into your recycling bin e.g. remove from the cardboard carton, separate the cap/ lid from the tube/ bottle jar and follow your local household recycling guidelines to ensure the items are recycled correctly. All our shipping packaging can also be recycled.
What is your approach/view on sustainability?
We are committed to doing more to help sustainability. It’s a work in progress (aren’t we all?) and we’re not perfect, but we think about our impact on the world around us in every single decision we make. We choose partners that share our values, and we’ll be looking to make changes as we grow that help us make a positive impact to people & the planet.
Where is the fragrance sourced from?
We source our beautiful natural and allergen free fragrance from a carefully selected partner supplier.
Where is the ingredient Tocopherol derived from?
Our Tocopherol is extracted from a blend of Soy Beans and Sunflower Seeds.
What is the PH of your skincare?
The Calming Cream PH is 5.0 - 5.5
The Skin Wash PH is 5.5 - 6.0
The Bathing Oil & Bath Salts are anhydrous so there is no PH value.
Is the plastic packaging BPA free?
All the plastic in our packaging is BPA free.
How are the crystals put into the formulation?
A unique process extracts a zinc-rich liquid active which is then blended with the other ingredients
